Dido AKA Basler Princess Smartypants passed away on 7th Oct 2008. She was only 10 years old. She had a rare type of fast growing tumour next to her heart, she was euthanased to save her suffering any further and leaves a huge hole in our lives. She was born on the chair in my mothers front room (despite a lovely whelping box being prepared) and spent her whole life with my mother and her mother Venquest Jonquille. Her mum Jonqy survives her as do her many children, grand children and great grand children. She was a wonderful dog and cannot ever be replaced. Here is what our friend Petra had to say about her.. "she was the one who made us definitely fall in love with Fauves - the day we came to see her at your mum's house I'll always have on my brain the image of Theo going up to Dido, stealing her bone, then her coming up to him & REALLY gently just taking it back off him. Each time he'd go back and take it she'd leave it a minute or two then remove it back, without ever seeming to get grumpy about it! ". Theo was 2 years old at the time and Dido certainly displayed the Fauves gentleness with young children to perfection.

We lost dido's mum Venquest Jonquille in Dec 2009. She was the last of her litter to go and was the start of our love affair of Fauves. We collected her as an adult from a show and she took a while to show us her true nature being quite a nervous girl but when she got used to living in a house she became a funny loving thing and was always ready to adopt and mother any small animal (except rabbits!) that came within reach.

Sadly we lost Ocean in June 2010. We imported him from France in 2000, he was bred by M.R Trecherel. (Du Chemin De L'Epine) and we thank him very much for letting us have this wonderful dog. He was graded "Excellent" at the National D'Elevage in 1999, just before he came to England. He was also a successful sire, having puppies not only in England but France, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Sire to the top Fauve in France one year and many other champions. He was a gentle sweetheart and is much missed.
