The affix 'Basler' was originally jointly owned by Pat Barrett and Ruth Farrell. We have been involved with Fauves for over 15 years, but before that my mother Pat, had Pointers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers, although she was mainly concerned with breeding and showing Abyssinian cats in those days. Our first jointly owned show dog was a Lancashire Heeler with the grand name of 'Tapatina Creamy Fudge', known to us rather un grandly as Prune, she was very quickly followed by our first Fauve, Venquest Jonquille. Our affix was born out of these 2 breeds, the 'Bas' from Basset and the 'ler' from the Heeler (not the posh clothes company) but it is with Fauves we have stuck.

Pat handed me the sole rights to the affix Basler in 2006.

I am a qualified veterinary nurse, and am married to James, who is a vet, we live in Derbyshire with 4 Fauves, and 3 cats. James and I own the affix, 'Brezhonet' which was newly acquired in Jan 2005 but we only bred one litter together as my mother then decided to retire so we reverted to Basler. I am also on the Basset Fauve de Bretagne Club committee, and write the breed notes for Our Dogs newspaper, any interesting tales, please email me!.

We do not have kennel facilities and our Fauves live in the home all the time as part of our family.

In 2010 we also joined forces with Heidi Allenby of Rangali and jointly own the affix Basgali.
